Whats been happening at Boaz?

“To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world”

Let me say that everything that you read below has only been able to be achieved because of the goodness of God. We recognize Him as the only true source of our successes. Without Him, “the laborers labor in vain!”

Haiti update: our deposit for $6,000 USD was sent off to Haiti to purchase the land. Scott and 13 others will be in Haiti from Dec 16-22 to work alongside the directors of Shepherd’s House Ministries. We will invest in the orphaned children there and other amazing kids to help provide Christmas for close to 1500 kids!    Our next payment for $6000 is scheduled to go out the first week of December!

The Orlesky family, who are Boaz staff members, continue to raise support to move to Haiti as Boaz first missionaries. They have raised almost 60% of their needed support. Our target date for them to go to the field is sometime in January or February. Please continue to pray for them and their support.

Livin2Love: the girls program which started in September in two of our local middle schools has been a huge success. We have close to 50 teen girls out each week where they get to share what is going on in their lives and find a safe place to love themselves and love others. We have already had other schools inquiring about bringing the program to their middle schools!

Boaz apartments: we recently open a second apartment in the city, this time to a 17 year old young man. We were able to help furnish the apartment and find him the needed furniture. He is completing grade 12 this year and we are glad we can help this recently homeless young man get his feet back under him.

We continue to have a home for girls as well and we have a 19 year old living there. We have also been in conversations with two pregnant teen moms about the possibility of opening a home for young teen moms/ pregnant teens.

Mentoring: we just completed the mentor training for two couples that wanted to make an impact through our mentoring ministry. Since the completion of the training they have begun mentoring. One of our 7 year old boys has needed a mentor for over a year and one of our 12 year old girls has finally got the mentor she needs. The reports coming back from the mentee and the mentor have been powerful!

Tutoring: two of the kids we work with, one in grade six and one in eight have been really struggling in school. It had begun to impact all aspects of their lives as their confidence was going down daily. The hope they now have since we have found them a mentor has been exciting to see. I am convinced that a child that is able to learn, is a child that feels like they can do things, and that they have value.

Please continue to pray for Boaz and to support the ministry through your financial gifts. You can do so through mailing a donation to: Boaz Ministries, 35 Hughes St PO Box 3681, Fredericton NB E3A5L7 or thru the Paypal tab on our website at http://www.boazministries.com
