Why rebuild the walls? People!

You will want to read til the end!

Fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes!
What is the point? Why put so much effort into that? Couldn’t your time and energy be spent more effectively doing something else? Why should we care?

Neh 4:14-23 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to our own work.
From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.
Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall. Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!”
So we continued the work with half the men holding spears, from the first light of dawn till the stars came out. At that time I also said to the people, “Have every man and his helper stay inside Jerusalem at night, so they can serve us as guards by night and as workers by day.”Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water.

I love the picture Nehemiah paints.Up until this point the focus for the people has been on building the walls. It can sound like the focus is on physical things, but in reality the reason for rebuilding the walls, is for people. Ministry is about people! Nehemiah tells them in verse 14 to “fight for your families, your sone, daughters, wives and homes”.

Can you see the passion that took over once Nehemiah reminded them why they were doing what they were doing? They were determined not too fail. They were focused on winning this battle. They labored as one, they struggled as one, they had each others backs and they got the task done. Why? Because they knew as did Nehemiah that this had always been about the families and the children.

Lets reread Neh 1:3, and why and when the vision started: They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.”

I can relate to this! Why are we raising money to purchase land to build homes in Haiti? People! Why are we raising supporters for our feeding program locally and globally? People! Why are we diligently sharing about our child sponsorship program? People! Why is it important for us to have our missionaries on the ground in Haiti? People! Why do we have a mentoring program? People!

I am convinced that God is fighting for us! Yes there are those that are saying we can never do it, but God says I am with you! There are those that are also saying yes you can! God is with you, always.

Just this past weekend we were blessed with a donation of $10,000 towards the purchase of our land! Why because they believe in the vision which is all about people! They believe that teens who are aging out of orphanages are worthy of a safe place to live and grow, be loved, complete their education and not have to worry about human traffickers!

Boaz Ministries is all about people!

If you would like to make a donation to our work in Haiti or locally contact Scott at boazministries@gmail.com We would love your partnership!

We have now raised $65,000 of the $160,000 needed. Thats right we are at 40% and have gone under $100,000 needed. God is good!
