For the last few weeks I have been feeling a strong burden on my heart, but it had seemingly gone unanswered. It may sound weird or strange to say but, I really have been asking for new partners in the ministry that simply want to serve. People that would rise up and say they want to speak to others about what is happening in the ministry. Those who would be a voice for others.
The reality is some days it can feel overwhelming and it’s hard to get over that hump. Knowing that we have kids, teens and their parents around the globe who struggle everyday to survive is hard to process.
But today it all changed for me. It came in the form of a little girl named Emma Hill!
I was sitting at Second Cup today feeling frustrated with a couple of things but trying to press on. Then Emma and her mom walked over to where I was seated. We chatted for a few minutes and then Emma said to her mom, ” can you give Scott the $5″ Her mom looked at her and wondered what she meant at first. Then Emma said, ” it’s the $5 I got when I sold the drawing I did to our neighbour, the money for feeding the kids in Haiti”
I was in awe. Here was a little girl that used her talent to draw something and then found someone to buy what she made so she could help others. She took her time, her talents and used them for someone else. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!
When Emma gave me that $5, she was so proud. Little did she know but she was the answer to my prayer that I had been asking for. God used a little child, to be a ministry partner, a voice for the voiceless and to be a servant for others who she may never meet.
Then I got home and had an email from friends in Ontario. They want to send money to help us take care of those we serve. Additionally, they are going to do a yard sale and want to receive brochures to pass along about Boaz in order to raise awareness and much needed funds.
Maybe you have some ideas of how you can generate more funds to make a change in people’s lives too. We would love for you to help us help others. Maybe you or your kids could get involved and do something creative, have your kids sell some toys they don’t use, bake some cookies, have a lemonade stand, maybe you could do a years sale, run a golf tournament, host a supper at your home and share the need.
Maybe you would like to get involved locally and impact some amazing families in need. We have opportunities for you!
I am encouraged and it really was a great day!
