We helped someone move in…to the community

I love our volunteers or servants is a better word. without our amazing servant base, we could never do what we do best…serve and build relationships in communities.

Yesterday was no different, people were stepping up to help. A few weeks earlier about 6-8 people were involved in picking up used furniture from folks who wanted to donate to Boaz. Yesterday servants helped deliver some of that furniture to a new to our city family.

As we pulled into the parking lot of this community, where the new family was moving, a lady walked over and asked me to park differently. I nicely said that I was just here to drop off some furniture for a new family and would be on my way shortly. Then the truck came with the furniture and Matt and Daniel, two of our sevants with assistance from the new family began to unload the truck.

While working a lady drove in the parking lot. I have known Kathy for many years and she was surprised to see me there. I told her what we were doing and we talked a bit about her community, how long we have been doing outreaches in other communities and how we were looking for new  communities to be involved. Kathy said “what about here? Would you like to talk with the person in charge?”

I said yes and she said, “well the lady is right over there” and pointed at the lady I had met just earlier who asked me to park my vehicle differently. I was so glad I had responded nicely to her. She came over and we chatted and I shared our love to pour into communities, it was a great talk. A few minutes later she reappeared telling me we could begin to serve in this new community with the blessing of the building owners.

The reality is the feeding and community building we do is supported by a strong group of committed servants. We are a servant  based organization who simply care about people.

An example of this took place last night at our regular outreach, 4 years in, on Doone St. One of the single moms in the community asked if she could serve her own neighbours. I love that! Another new servant, he owns Radical Edge, came and gave his time to repair kids bikes, another servant went and set up tables and chairs and others made food, served food and ran our BBQ.

SO THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS, I MEAN SERVANTS, WE CANT SERVE EFFECTIVELY WITHOUT YOU! WE NEED NEW SERVANTS TO HELP US MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN THIS NEW COMMUITY!
